“FRENCH SOUL, OREGON SOIL” *

From wine to glass: a succession of rigorous decisions at every step, four Drouhin generations have learned how to carefully observe the  land, the vine, the grape, humbly drawing lessons from every detail.  The methods used bring together experience and innovation.  The Burgundian terroir expresses itself through the vine: our role is to translate and reveal its most subtle messages.  Every effort is made to respect this terroir in all its diversity.  (from the Joseph Drouhin  CHARTER OF EXCELLENCE)

Expression is unique to the industry in so far as it has adapted a methodology that focuses on the right terroir at the right time.  From their own description: Pinot Noir is notoriously fickle, but can be brilliant when grown in the right terroir.

Cristom Vineyards hangs its hat on a well-earned reputation for making exceptional Pinot Noir.  Their rich track record of excellence is the result of a 20-year collaboration between three men – and engineer, a biochemist and a farmer—who are, first and foremost, stewarts of the land.
